Accelerate Deeptech in Europe – a good overview of deeptech in Europe

Europe aims to achieve technological sovereignty and boost its deeptech sector, as discussed in the “Deep Tech Entrepreneurship for an Innovative, Resilient, and Competitive Internal Market” conference hosted by the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in June 2023. 

Challenges identified include the need for a more interconnected ecosystem, lagging R&D investments compared to the US, and the struggle to turn academic research into commercial success. The conference report suggests several measures to overcome these obstacles, emphasizing the importance of adapting Europe’s capital market to deeptech needs and recognizing intellectual assets as business assets for a more innovative and competitive industry.
